Recording at Glachbeg Croft

Just 4 miles outside of Inverness, Glachbeg Croft is a prime location for recording your next release. It’s quiet and relaxed with beautiful surroundings. The large open-plan wooden building has a great acoustic as well as dampening abilities when required.

As well as smaller radio stations, music recorded here by Steve has been played on BBC Radio 2. Steve has a hands on approach to music recording and production helping your creativity to get the best results possible out of your performance and your songs.

Solo performer looking for a big sound? We can arrange for talented musicians to come and take your tracks to the next level including drummer, piano player, cellist, fiddlers and guitarists.


The studio runs a professional Protools system with RME A/D conversion as well as RME and Focusrite microphone pre-amplifiers.
Microphones from Neumann, AKG, Rode, SE Electronics and Shure are at hand to capture your sound as effectively and purely as possible.
Various instruments are available including a Tama Superstar drum kit, a Fender Precision bass, a Fender Telecaster, Art and Lutherie acoustic, a full size Yamaha electric piano with MIDI integration (and a realistic grand piano emulation software) as well as an electric upright bass and various percussion.
A Blackstar guitar amplifier and a Markbass/Ampeg bass amplifier are here for use; any other amplifiers, drum kits, keyboard and instruments required can be hired at a discounted rate from


Recording is £160 a day, £80 and evening or £30 an hour.

Location Recording

Steve can travel with gear to capture you live event or project. In the past Steve has recorded a live album with Rythmnreel at the Ironworks over two nights. The album was recorded multi-track and mixed afterwards. The album reached no 1 in the iTunes "World Music" Chart.
